ENVIRONMENT
The reduction of greenhouse gases is a priority issue for Peugeot. From its design stage, the Peugeot 308 has incorporated the global consideration for best protection of the environment. This approach is represented by the special care taken in designing its aerodynamic profile.
FAP
Since 2000, HDi technology exclusive to PSA Peugeot Citroën, has been combined with a high performance emissions system; the Particulate Filter (FAP). Its filter eliminates Diesel particulates by reducing them to a measurable limit (0.004g/km). The FAP is a self-cleaning device used to process the gases resulting from diesel combustion inside the engine.
Energy saving tyres
By optimising the rolling resistance by 20%, this high technology tyre reduces the amount of fuel required to move the vehicle forward and so obtains a reduction in fuel consumption of almost 0.2 litres per 100 km, which is close to 4 g/km of CO2. On average, this relates to approximately one ton less of CO2 emitted during the life of a vehicle.
Aerodynamic profile
Aerodynamics, controlling weight and reducing friction all contribute considerably to the performance towards environment of a vehicle by limiting consumption. Already equipped with the best air penetration coefficient in its category (Cx or drag coefficient), the Peugeot 308 has the lowest forward surface movement air resistance coefficient of all the hatchbacks (SCx). A performance represented by a reduction in fuel consumption and therefore savings during use and less pollution.
The Peugeot commitment
For many years, Peugeot has been innovative in thinking towards the future. Since 2007, Peugeot has entered a new phase by endeavouring to qualify its commitment towards future generations as part of the "Blue Lion®" concept. Since the year 2000, Peugeot has sold almost 2,000,000 private vehicles fitted with an FAP (Particulate Filter). En 2008, Peugeot strengthened its position as European leader* in the segment of vehicles emitting less than120 g de CO2/km with a 15.4 % market share. Thus, in 2008, one car in 6 sold in Europe* and emitting less than 120 g of CO2/km was a Peugeot. All of the brand vehicles are built in ISO 14001 certified factories and are designed to be 95% recyclable at the end of their life. *Europe 14 countries – source A.A.A
Emissions
The majority of diesel engines fitted to the Peugeot 308 are equipped with a Particulate Filter (FAP) emissions system which reduces the amount of diesel particulates resulting from diesel combustion inside the engine. The Peugeot 308 is therefore in keeping with the "Blue Lion" concept whose objective is to innovate by thinking towards the future: thus in 2008, one car in 6 sold in Europe (14 countries) and emitting less than 120g of CO2/KM was a Peugeot.
