With its low centre of inertia and the wide tracks of its front chassis, the Peugeot 308 displays aggressive handling qualities. These qualities are the result of Peugeot's knowledge and experience in terms of road holding. The braking performance of the Peugeot 308 features amongst the best on the market, thanks to the large dimension brake discs.
Petrol engine range
PSA Peugeot Citroën has developed and produced a family of petrol engines equipped with the very latest advances in technological progress. Their power output ranges from 95 bhp to 175 bhp and they establish new standards in terms of performance and smooth operation such as a reduction in fuel consumption and emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) (see chapter Emissions)
Diesel engine range
Developed by PSA Peugeot Citroën, Diesel HDi (High Pressure Direct Injection) technology continues to meet with growing success thanks to a fuel saving of more than 20% compared to an older generation diesel engine; smooth driving is obtaining by torque available at low engine speed.
Road handling
The Peugeot 308 is tailored for the road; both in the town and the countryside. On the open road, the excellent rigidity of the body and the chassis components provide an excellent ratio between road holding and comfort. Onboard, the electro-hydraulic power-assisted steering system offers the driver accurate and comfortable driving. Furthermore, the wide tracks and the large dimension tyres contribute towards the efficiency of this system.
